It’s January, and that means one thing at The Apprentice Academy – our employers are gearing up to hire their next apprentices to start in Summer 2020! Are you leaving college in the Summer but University just isn’t for you? The apprenticeship route may just be the perfect alternative!

Could you see yourself as a Property Management Apprentice, assisting a Property Manager with day to day tasks such as tenancy inspections? How about an Assistant Accountant, working under an experienced Finance Director in the Finance Team of a big company or Accountancy practice? Or perhaps working as a Business Administrator employed in a legal, recruitment, travel company or indeed any business that has office functions.

A short guide to the 2020 Future Talent period is below, explaining how you can land your perfect apprenticeship!

How does it work?

The process for starting an apprenticeship with us is simple and can be completed in 5 steps.

Step 1 – Apply via our website on either a specific vacancy (found on our vacancies page) or via a direct application. For convenience, there is an application form you can fill in at the bottom of this blog.

Step 2 – If you meet the criteria, you will be invited to a Recruitment Day.

Step 3 – If you are successful at a Recruitment Day, your fact file (completed on the day), which is like a CV, will be sent to an employer that you want to work for, or who we have job matched you to. Please note we will never send a fact file before speaking to you first.

Step 4 – Job interview. If an employer likes what they see on your fact file, we will arrange a job interview. If successful at interview, you move onto step 5.

Step 5 – Step 5 is to complete your exams/education and start working at the company in Summer 2020!

Throughout this process, we will keep in touch regularly to make sure everything is running smoothly and to make sure an apprenticeship is still right for you.

Who has hired apprentices in the past?

Over the years, we have worked with a lot of big brands that you may have heard of. A few are shown in the graphic below, with some big names like Network Rail, Worldpay, Interactive Investor and Brother UK, who between them have hired over twenty 16 to 18-year olds in 2019.

Do I meet the criteria?

Criteria varies from job to job. Usually, a job advert will specify the criteria an employer is looking for. Most employers we work with are looking for individuals with a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grades from 9 to 4 (A to C), with at least a 4 in English and Maths.

For more specialist areas like Accountancy, an employer may be looking for an individual who is predicted to receive A-C grades at A level.

When is the first Recruitment Day?

Recruitment Days at The Academy will be running weekly from 7th February onwards.

The Summer may seem far away, but many of our jobs are filled early in the year. Network Rail for example, hired their Accounting apprentices in March! Don’t leave your apprenticeship application till the last minute. For convenience, an application form is below:
